John Humphreys, Chairman

John established KPMG’s Australian consulting business and was Chairman of Consulting for Asia Pacific before leading the divestment and subsequent merger of the business into Bearing Point in the region.

He commenced his career with Peat Marwick over 30 years ago as a graduate accountant, having completed a commerce degree. He quickly qualified as a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and the Australian Society of Public Accountants, achieving Fellowship status in both organisations.

John is currently Chairman of Board of Directors of Salter Brothers Asset Management Pty Ltd.

Peter Cameron Peter Cameron

Peter Cameron, Director

With a degree in Accounting & Finance from the University of NSW, Peter commenced his career at Price Waterhouse in the mid 80’s. Having qualified as a Chartered Accountant whilst part of the Corporate Finance team he moved to the corporate sector and assisted with the privatisation of The Grain Elevators Board which is the now ASX listed GrainCorp Limited.

Whilst at GrainCorp Peter was responsible for Financial Reporting & Treasury Management.

Leveraging his business valuation and financial modelling skills Peter moved into the Financial Markets arena and became a private client advisor running managed discretionary accounts for high net worth individuals before establishing his own Hedge Fund.

Marco Marcou Marco Marcou

Marco Marcou, Director

Marco has over 30 years of managerial and corporate advisory experience in Australia, the USA and Asia. He has held a number of senior management positions and worked for Deloitte Consulting (Australia and Hong Kong) specialising in Mergers and Acquisitions. Marco was a joint founder and is currently also a Director of MAP Capital Advisors (MAP), a leading independent boutique investment and advisory house providing Corporate Advisory, Market Insights, Venture Capital and Specialist Funds services. MAP’s sector focus is on the TRiMET market segments (namely: Technology, Retail, Internet, Media, Entertainment & Telecoms) and the Resources sectors (namely: Mining, Oil and Gas, and Cleantech). He is also the Executive Director of Kazakhstan Potash Corporation (ASX: KPC) a publicly listed mineral exploration company based in Melbourne, Australia, with a sole focus on potash deposits in Western Kazakhstan.

Marco holds a Master of Business Administration from Swinburne University of Technology and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Melbourne.

Paul Mitchell Paul Mitchell

Paul Mitchell, Director

Paul Mitchell is an internationally renowned security expert with more than three decades’ experience in cybersecurity, counter terrorism, risk management, law enforcement agency protocols and managing risk in hostile situations. Paul works with governments, major corporates and private individuals to reduce risk around physical and cyber security. In particular he has worked with UK Special Forces delivering combat training consulting services to elite military units.

Paul’s depth of experience in hostile situations informs his understanding of the importance of protecting sensitive data and digital documents from hostile internal and external attacks and the development of CoolRock’s patented technology. Since 2014, Paul has been responsible for CoolRock Software’s strategic direction, business development (UK/Asia) and ongoing stakeholder relations. Paul combines his role with CoolRock Software with leadership of security consultancy GlobalEdge International. Together, these roles ensure Paul has a real-time understanding of critical security issues in government, corporate and personal spheres.

Paul holds a Graduate Diploma in Marketing from the Institute of Marketing Management and has held senior line management positions with several multi-national companies. In 2011, Paul was appointed Technical Committee Member to the International Standards Organisation responsible for developing standards for Security Agencies operating in hostile environments and war zones.

Barbara Ryland Barbara Ryland

Barbara Ryland, Executive Director

Barbara is a highly experienced financial services executive and company director. She has held senior roles with Local Super SA-NT, Superannuation Trust of Australia, ExxonMobil Superannuation and has been a Director of Adelaide Airport and One in Five Association. She is Principal of Barbara Ryland Consulting and joined CoolRock Software in February 2017 as an Executive Director. In her current role, she is responsible for the company’s general management, financial and governance operations and a range of stakeholder relationships as CoolRock delivers its data protection software services to major government, listed and private companies in Australia, New Zealand, the UK and Europe.

Barbara is a Fellow of the Association of Superannuation Funds of Australia, a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and is a former Member of the Australian Advisory Committee for Franklin Templeton Investments Australia.

David Wright David Wright

David Wright, Executive Director

David Wright has more than 40 years’ experience in the IT sector specialising in digital solutions for clients across government, health, transport  and the security sectors. As an Executive Director with CoolRock, he is focused on business development activities and the roll out of CoolRock data protection services in Australia and New Zealand. In particular he works with CEOs, CIOs and CTOs to implement better IT security systems in organisations that require complex cross-border data security solutions.

Through his consultancy Wright Management Consultants and also through executive roles with IBM in New Zealand, David has a deep understanding of designing and implementing IT systems to support organisational strategy, reduce risk and enhance productivity. Through his consultancy and as an IBM executive, David has extensive experience working with New Zealand government departments to develop greater IT capacity. He has also worked at US think tank the Brookings Institution.

David Wright is a graduate of Auckland University in Mathematics and Physics and has qualifications in Psychodrama Principles and Neurolinguistic Programming. He is a recipient of IBM’s highest employee awards for outstanding performance.

Chris Gaskett Chris Gaskett

Dr Chris Gaskett, Head of Research & Development
PhD, BE, BAppSci, PMP

Dr Chris Gaskett has more than 15 years’ experience in computer science and software engineering. Since 2007, Chris has led CoolRock Software’s R&D, designing best-practice data protection systems with his deep knowledge of email archiving and cryptography software development.

His background includes experience as an award-winning academic and author; lecturing at James Cook University; publishing widely in academia and mainstream media in both English and Japanese across specialties including machine learning, machine vision, and robotics. He has experience in Japan as a research engineer at the Department of Humanoid Robotics and Computational Neuroscience at ATR and as an Associate Researcher at Toyota’s Central Research and Development Laboratories in Nagoya.

Chris is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP); and has a PhD in Systems Engineering from the Australian National University; a Bachelor of Engineering (Computer Systems Engineering) and a Bachelor of Applied Science (Computer Science) from RMIT University.

Adam Lau Adam Lau

Adam Lau, Head of Implementation & Support

Adam is an expert in IT consulting, application development and hosting/administration across a range of platforms. He has experience in technology start ups as a CIO, IT consultant and software developer with organisations including MGH Hosting, Ademin, Intelli Messaging and Cyberdyne Consulting. He joined CoolRock in 2007 as Deployment Manager.

In his role, Adam is responsible for project management, team management and quality of customer focused delivery for CoolRock IT platforms. Adam has a Bachelor in Engineering (Computer and Network Engineering)/Bachelor of Computer Science) from RMIT University.
